Michel Pereira is all set to feature at the UFC 301 event taking place in Brazil. His rich vein of form and consistent performances have made him a force to reckon with inside the Octagon. The 30-year-old will be taking on Ihor Potieria as a fan favorite in his next fight. Potieria was roped in after Makhmud Muradov withdrew his name from the Rio de Janeiro fight card.

Pereira is currently on a seven-fight winning streak, and a win in his hometown might push him closer to the title. The Brazilian has also caught attention because of his last name. Many believe that he is somehow related to Alex Pereira. But is he? Let us find out.

Is there any connection between ‘Poatan’ and Michel Pereira?

Alex Pereira and Michel Pereira are two completely different individuals, doing well for themselves. Both fighters come from a very humble background and have worked hard to make a name for themselves in the sport. ‘Poatan’ is currently the light heavyweight champion of the UFC while ‘Demolidor’ is slowly inching towards the middleweight title. With so many similarities between the pair, the question of them being related always arises. However, apart from the last name and native country, the fighters are not related in any way.

The Brazilian was roped in by the UFC where he took on Danny Roberts in his debut. The now 30-year-old surprised everyone with his performance and won the fight via knockout in the first round. Since then, the Brazilian has been a powerhouse in the promotion. His UFC 301 fight will now allow him to keep his winning momentum going. Before his next fight at UFC 301, let us inspect his and Alex Pereira’s ethnicity.

 The ethnicity of both UFC stars

Pereira, who goes by the nickname of ‘Demolidor’ was born on October 6, 1993, in Para, Brazil. Not much is known about his ethnicity, but he holds Brazilian nationality. Current light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira also hails from Brazil. ‘Demolidor’s’ first interaction with combat sports started at the age of five when he started learning karate. However, he then shifted his focus to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with the hope of making it as a professional fighter. Pereira later went on to become a black belt in the form and his performances inside the Octagon is a proof of it. In 2018, he won the Serbian Battle Championship, catching the attention of many around the world.

The 30-year-old was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC  299 when he took on Michal Oleksiejczuk. The 30-year-old won the fight via submission in the first round, taking his winning streak to seven. However, he will have his work cut out against Ihor Potieria, who is also coming after a victory in his previous fight. Both fighters have very contrasting styles and it will be an action-packed fight at UFC 301.
