Britain's Got Talent fans have jokingly demanded that the show should change its name after spotting a pattern. The hit ITV talent competition returned over the weekend with a double show extravaganza.

The first show of the double-bill weekend also saw unusual singers and astounding dogs take to the stage, to impress judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli while a singer and a South Korean martial arts troupe quick to be awarded the coveted golden buzzer.

The show then returned on Sunday night (April 21) for a double show weekend with Arbon, a danger act who balances using his hands and executes stunts involving fire and heights while Duncan Fletcher demonstrated a variety of stunts to the judges and Danny ZZZZ performed a trick that involves him attempting to escape from a box on fire.

There was also another emotional moment when A Million Dreams from the popular musical film was sung by an eight-year-old boy with a brain tumour along with his choir who also secured the coveted golden buzzer from a crying Alesha Dixon. Ravi’s Dream Team, a choir of people ranging from ages five to 78, fronted by eight-year-old Ravi, were put straight through to the live shows when judge Alesha Dixon hit the special buzzer.

Taking to the stage, Ravi introduced his sister, mother and father to the judges and explained his reasoning for being on the show. "I’ve watched BGT all my life and always wanted to audition for it," he said. "Two years ago I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and I’m here to show no matter what life throws you can still achieve your dreams."

But the new 17th series kicked off with performances from a cheerleading team, a trumpet player and a singing group named Rask AI, who had the judges in fits of laughter as they used artificial technology to superimpose the judge’s heads onto characters from the hit 2017 film The Greatest Showman.

And it seemingly kicked off the use of songs from the hit musical film, starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Zendaya, over the weekend and were quick to comment on social media.

@uktellyfans said: "THREE Greatest Showman songs in this show in the past two nights?! Does ITV have nothing else in the sound library? #BGT." @mrlukedodd commented: "Is anyone keeping a Greatest Showman tally on #bgt? They may as well just play the film instead of the episodes at this point."
