SKAS sending 11 karatekas to Brunei meet

Kota Kinabalu: An 11-member Shotokan Karate Association of Sabah (SKAS) contingent will be taking part in the Shitokai Brunei Karate-Do Open Championships, at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex this weekend. SKAS president Simon Chia said the team will be led by seniora members Jay Calmulia Abd Rahman, Jay Calputera Abd Rahman, Mohd Nur Faiqal Abd Salim and Bryan Isidore Tubong who will be compete in the senior category. The cadet category (14-15 years) will be represented by Leon Liew Le Yuong, Juliet Sandra Ain Abd Rahman and Sylvianne Albert Labansin, Shairul Mohamad Afiz and Juliet Sutra Nera Abd Rahman in the 12-13 years category, while Andryan Chong Sze Hoong (10-11 years) and Valden Sinclair Cheon (8-9 years) are the youngest in the team.ADVERTISEMENT Chia expected the championship will be very competitive with the participation of karatekas from Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Hungary, Malaysia and Brunei.
